Is your head screwed on right?

Have you ever found yourself wondering if you are focused on the right thing? With the last 18 months of economic mahem I have found myself treading water and trying to just stay afloat mentally and spiritually. The girl who was always the aggrivating optimist for others found herself facing large amounts of sadness and doubt. After many conversations with Fr. Mark and much praying I am moving forward again in a positive direction. February 19th - 21st St. Monica's will be sponsoring a Women's Retreat to help and encourage us all to reconnect with God and refocus on what is important to him.

The cost is as folows:

$100 for the entire weekend (includes lodging and food)
$55 for Saturday and Sunday (includes lodging and food)
$30 For Saturday only (includes food)

We are blessed to have Vicki Siegel leading the retreat. Her ability to bring a feeling of peace and fun together in a spirit of Christ is amazing. You will leave the weekend feeling recharged, relaxed and ready to take on 2010!

Sign up with Vicki after service on Sundays - or you can contact me and I will give her your information. 321-231-9763

Directions and more detals will be posted in the very near future.

Sunday Brunch Series

Happy New Year to all the Parish ladies. I hope and pray your new year brings many wonderful things. One thing is a change many of you asked for. In your responses to me many of you expressed a desire to have some of the meetings on Sunday after Mass due to the fact that you are not able to get away an extra night during the week. Well, Jan 31st we will have our first Sunday meeting for 2010.

The St. Monica's Brunch will feature Quiche, Fresh Fruit, scones, tea and much more. Please pencil us in on your calendar that day.

May God bless your year in every way.

Best Regards;

Shelly K.

A Taste of Cuba

Buenos Dias!

If you would like to sample a little taste of Cuba, please join us January 5 (Tuesday) at 6pm in the Parish Hall for a St. Monica's dinner. On the menu, Black beans and rice, Salad, roasted Chicken and Mojito's. After dinner we will discuss briefly what we want to be this year as a group. What and who we want to support as a group and we will make some determinations on fundraising and moving forward through the year. Your voice is important, however, it can only be heard if you share with us.

I look forward to seeing you all, and cooking for you all as well so save the date for this fiesta!

See you then!

Shelly

Christmas Party

As I sit here this evening with my swollen feet elevated above my heart, I am replaying this entire week in my mind. Between work functions, my children's functions and both St. Monica's and the Parish Christmas Party, I have attended 7 parties in 6 days. In my younger days I would have loved the thought of parties every night (Julie S.). Now days I pine for a quiet evening, cool weather and the company of my family. I am afraid this was not to be - at least not this week. With all said and done, I am thankful for my Parish family for all their help, the amazing food and most of all for coming together as a group tonight to celebrate the Christmas season. I hope you all have an incredible week and I look forward to seeing you all next Sunday.

Thanks for the Support

A warm and heartfelt thank you to all of who showed up to support St. Monica's tonight. We meet again as a group the first Tuesday of January. This meeting will set the tone of the entire year. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Best Regards;

Shelly K.

Christmas is Approaching

I don't know about you, but Christmas is my favorite time of the year. Even though I am grown there is still something amazingly magical about the Christmas Season.

With the media focused on spending and shopping results and the economy still struggling to keep it's head above water, many of us may find ourselves wondering how we are going to give to our family, friends and loved ones. For those of you who don’t know, I train sales people to sell timeshare. Even in this economy our sales percentages are still rising. The reason for this is what we sell… I teach my sales people that the most valuable thing we offer as a company is the opportunity for families to spend one week a year away from distractions and “hang out” with their husbands, wives and children. Time is a limited resource and once spent or lost can not be retrieved. With this is mind, the best and most valued thing we can offer is our love and time.

Is there someone you know who needs a "Pick me up"? Make a call or stop for a quick visit. Is there time for helping in a soup kitchen or passing out coats and blankets to the homeless? A visit to a nursing home? What about prayer? Adding people to our prayers takes little time and effort and has the power to result in the best rewards.

As we plan our busy schedules this season, perhaps we can plan time for reaching out in friendship. In the spirit of reaching out in friendship, I look forward to this Tuesday’s St. Monica’s Christmas get together and each monthly get together this coming year. I know we can work together as a group to help lift each other up and make a difference in the lives of others.

Merry Christmas;

Shelly K.

Welcome Ladies!

Hello, my name is Shelly Koehler and I am the current president of Saint Monica’s Guild. It is my desire to make our women’s guild a dynamic and supportive group that not only supports the Church but also gives women a place of support, comfort and fellowship through Christ. I have many ideas and visions of my own, however I also plan to incorporate as many of your ideas and suggestions as I can. After all, this group is about you and every woman in the church and community.
